Sad Decline

I saw my friend with her husband at a birthday party on Saturday. Although they weren't able to stay long, still they made the effort to come out and make an appearance.  He is so frail and sick which makes me almost cry to see how he has declined.  A year ago he was so full of energy and life.  To see him today brings me to a very sad moment.  I know he is suffering while he maintains some sort of composure.  She is doing her best to keep both their spirits up and being ever watchful for any signs of problems.  My heart goes out to both of them and I made sure that she knew I was there if anything happened.
