Baby Boomer?

The Kid

Years ago, when I lived here in my home town, there were several people that I knew very well.  The kids 2 doors down were part of my world back then.  Today, I can sit and look across the street at a grey brick house, which house's one of those people.  They chose to stay here in our small town and raise their children.  The boy who is now a man, will sit with his wife and a grandchild on the front porch in the early mornings and late evenings.  It's funny how life and years change things, which gives subjects a whole new prospective. 

Mom

This is one of the trips Mom took to the hospital in the last 3 months.  This picture was taken when she actually ate a few things.  Today, she isn't eating and has been fitted with a feeding tube.  We only hope that she will get needed nourishment to sustain her health.


Once again we have had to place her in the hospital with problems and we don't know if we will have her around much long?  This isn't something we are wanting to happen, but we realize there comes a time, when people just get tired.

Education

What are the people of our State Senate thinking? They just sent a bill to the desk of the Governor Rick Perry, to be signed and passed into law. This bill will be chocked full of budget cuts, which include funds to our schools. I believe this is a total disaster and I know there could have been another way to handle this matter.
Why couldn't they have put a 5 or 10 cent tax on all alcohol & cigarette sales? I'm sure this could have helped with the budget and the families of the young children who are needing public education wouldn't mind a bit. Wise up, Texas.......we need a change!

Clean Up

I woke up to this sight yesterday morning and knew that there would be an expensive clean up.  Sure enough the quotes were high.  I'm thankful for the person who came along and only charged us $100.

More Drama

I am not a person who handles drama and try my best to stay away from people who thrive on it.  I am laid back and wish to keep things like that.  Although I try to stay away from these people, somehow they keep coming back into my life and causing stress.  I can't seem to get them to go on and leave me out of their messes.  I wish they would grow up and stop all the "needy" emotions they emit.  Why can't people just get along and let other's alone?

T Shirts

So many people enjoy wearing different  funny t shirts  to accent their personalities.  Some wear them for certain occasions or reunions that are filled with all types of people.  Demonstrating your flair for the wild side can sometimes cause a riff, but if you are aware of your surroundings, then you can adjust things.  I have seen some T shirts that are "way out there", with language that would make the hair stand up on any older person.  I don't like some of them, but the funny ones are okay in my opinion.

Removing Old Stuff

We have been out at the family house, trying to clean out some of the years of dust and accumulated items.  It's seems that people who grew up in the 40's & 50's survived by holding on to things they might need later.  This is the scenario here, with almost everything you can imagine stashed here and there for safe keeping.  The years has mounted a large amount of dust and it's something that will be hard to manage even after we've cleaned it up.  The house is very old and along with it comes the dust and creaky boards.  Walking in and moving one thing starts you to sneezing from the cloud of dust that saturates the air.  We are very overwhelmed from all the stuff that we are having to get rid of.  There's many years of life entwined in this hoard of items.  If the walls could speak, I'm afraid of some of the tales they would spew out.

I honestly don't understand why young people have to buy the latest  new incredible s  cell phones?  It's as if they have a fashion trend to keep up and they are always looking for something new to buy.  Cell phones are now full of new apps and other aides to give full access to the electronic world.  There are many designs and styles plus brands that you can choose from an online store.  Click on the above link and do some shopping for the best values in cell phones.

Father's Day

Well, if I'd have had a father, it might have been different. So, Father's Day, is for the other people and the one's that are able to say they had or have one.
Being in life, without a dad, and wondering why, he didn't care enough to come see me or want me, was very hard. I never met him for several years, and when I finally did, he acted as if I was an alien. During his last years, I finally got his attention, and made it point to let him know, that I wanted nothing from him, financially, or otherwise. I just wanted to get to know him and visit, write and call. That's basically what happened, until he died. I went to the funeral, and showed no emotion, because there was only regret. His family actually acknowledged me and had me sit on the front row, with them at the graveside services. So all you can surmize from this is a lost cause

Trees

These are some of the trees that will need trimming, when I move out to the house.  These trees are directly behind the back door, and will give good shade to the area, I plan to put the BBQ pit in.  I also have many other plans, but it will take much longer for them to develop.

Home

I never dreamed this would be happening.  Yet, as I write this post, I am making arrangements to move back to my family home.  Years ago, I grew up in this place and there are many memories that come to mind as I anticipate this move.  I have visited the property several times, recently and see a different property from which I left.  The house has been remodeled and the yard has numerous trees that weren't there back then.  The yard is huge so it will be a constant effort to keep it up.  Many items are still in the house and need to be removed for my access.  Still I'm very ready to go and be back where I grew up.

I was really hurting for some additional TV channels at home, since my basic cable package only got me about 50 channels. I know 30 years ago 50 channels was unheard of, but all my friends get somewhere in the thousands and I was constantly left out of conversations concerning shows I didn't have access to at home. I went to ClearTVBundle.com and signed up for a bundle that gave me access to all the premium channels which is great since I'm actually more into movies than I am TV. I finally feel like I know what all the fuss is about when my friends start talking about HBO and Showtime, and I definitely think that alone makes the expenses worth it. I do a lot of shopping online and I pay my bills over the web, so I don't really know how I lived this long without it! Who was I kidding?
