The family got together with my Mom & step-dad for Christmas....I ate too much food, because I just couldn't control my yen for some of the snacks.  Mom was talking about this and that as usual, and Henry was talking about his days in the military as usual.

I actually sat and watched some old Tim Allen Christmas stories last night, about him becoming "Santa Claus" and all the drama involved.  It was a nice quiet evening at home alone, and I actually didn't mind it at all.  There were several cartoon programs on before it, and for some reason I felt comfortable just being at home for a change.  I am almost always sitting at the computer, but last night the TV caught my eye, and I stayed with it until I went to bed.  I even watched the "Dale Hansen's"  "Thank God for Kids".  It was an older version but very nice to see and remember.

What's Up?

Here it is only a few more days until Christmas, and I just don't feel it............Does it feel like Christmas to you?  For some reason this year has not given me the seasonal feelings, that you get with the passing of each.  Spring was nice because it brought the warmer temperatures along with the new leaves, flowers and robins.  Summer was odd because it was a slow starter, but then it finally hit with the high hot temperatures.  Fall, was also slow and I believe that is what has left me dangling, with the season of Christmas.  I'm really having a hard time getting it going and it's almost here.  Wow!

I was involved with a family that was large with this one and had to have their Christmas in a large family home or go to a civic center and rent it for a few hours. There was always plenty of food, games with prizes and family interaction. Towards the end of the evening one of the family men would dress as Santa and come in the door............to a roaring sound of squeals of delight from the children..........and parents as well............

Lost Love

I lost this man to a set of circumstances back during my high school days.  I was very much in love with him, and still love him today.  I wish his mother had left us alone so we could have gotten married and been together the rest of our lives.........

Old Friends

The Last One....

It was a day, that changed a few things in my life. Mainly, I was older and didn't think about having anymore children, but then I had just married another man and he was all up in the subject.
I guess at his age, he just wanted to know he "still could". Well, I had to really talk to myself about this one and ask myself if I wanted to go back into the mess of having and taking care of a "baby"!
Heck no, I thought to myself...........there's the getting up every few hours the first month or so, "Diapers", bottles or breast feeding, getting thrown up on, the crying.........oh heck no! I knew that was just half of it and I wasn't ready to do it all over again, since there had already been four times I had done this thing and finally I was out of it.........and free ! At 33 years old, it's time to let it go and enjoy the rest of your life, or so I thought.
That's not what happened............he finally talked me into it and against my better judgment, I agreed and stopped taking birth control pills. Hoping against hope that it wouldn't happen.........but knowing that I was too fertile and I was just batting a 1000 on hopes.
Sure enough 2 years into the marriage, it happened and I was telling myself...........self, it's too late, now.......you can't turn back.......so, get ready, because the time has arrived.
I went through all the necessary steps, and trips to the clinic, and was doing well. About eight months later, little pin like pains, started being an aggravation almost everyday, for about a week. So, I got tired of them and took some laxative.............well, she arrived about 4:49pm on a cold rain mixed with sleet, day in February.........all 5lbs. & 4ozs. of her. Of course this made her a "premie", and they put her in the neo-natal unit, to watch...just in case...........
Since I was having my tubes tied the next day, I only got to see her when she was born........and it was the third day, before she knew she had a mom. The nurses joked that they knew she had a "dad", but was beginning to wonder where the Mom was.
We brought her home on the 4th day of her life, and you could have carried her in your hands, she seemed so little. Almost the size of a good baking hen.
Some how, some way..........we made it.........and she's all grown up now....the picture above is her with her spouse....She'll be 32 years old in February..........so you know how old that makes me.........!

Grandchildren

I find that getting older makes thing hard to accept.  This isn't a very good picture, but it was taken last week when my youngest daughter brought over her children to visit.  Donica was born in January of 2000 and Jacob was born December of 2002........seems like only yesterday....wow!

Life's Experiences

Life is moving so fast and as I watch the daily involvements I am around it gets very sad.  I watched a woman yesterday who was crying her eyes out from rejection of her only son.  I have found this situation in my life before and know the hurt that she is experiencing.  How life has evolved into this form of hatefulness is a regretful thing, which can't be reconstructed with this world we are living in.  Unhappy insecure people, push their bitterness on others in a form of venting. I wonder if they even realize the place where they should actually be placing their unhappiness?  I hope that I was able to listen to her, and help in some small way, because when it came to being able to help her with a place to crash, I couldn't allow my home to be included.  It would have been an invasion on my privacy that I'm not ready to keep allowing later on.  Once you allow someone to come to your home to crash, then they will ask again and again every time they have a problem.  I'm not into handling people with drinking and drama problems.  So, I stay away from them as often as possible.

I Saw Him

Siblings

I am watching a situation unfold, between my youngest (drama queen) daughter and her sister's from the other side of the family.  Since her dad passed away the atmosphere over at the other house has gone downhill.  There isn't much criteria to go by, where morals are concerned.  No one is acting right or using good sense when it comes to being upright, honest and moral.  She has been caught up in a moral situation, that will in the long run, cause much grief and hate.  I wish that there was something I could do to help, but it seems that time is the only healer.

Acne

I have watched my son go through the trauma of having acne, that's extreme.  He has horrible scars on his face shoulders and back.  Some of the pimples become so tender you can brush up against him accidentally and he will flinch from the pain.  I often wonder how to treat acne  like his, because it is so severe.  He tells me that he can't afford the cost it would take for the medicines and treatments.  So he just lives with it.

A Diet

Here I am again, looking at all those bulges around my waist.  I know what I need to do, but am I tough enough and strong enough to keep it going once I've started it.  A diet to me is the one of the most mundane words I ever want to hear.  I always need  diet pills that actually work  for me to feel like something is really happening. Like most people, if I don't see instant results, then I give up.  The staying process and toughing it out process, is really not my cup of tea.  Guess I'm just lazy.

What A Difference.....

I'm sure you remember the song "What a difference a day makes"?  24 little hours.........it seems that's what's been happening to me in the last week.  I decided to go to another place to socialize, and relax with some friends.  They had told me that I would like it better there, and that there were specials throughout the day. These were drink specials, and it was a local bar.  I was intrigued as soon as they told me about the "Wild Women" night, Tuesday's after 7pm till close.  Therefore, knowing that these people would probably be there, I ventured out to this establishment.  They weren't there the first evening, but I saw someone from past years that was there, and called to them across the room.  They were as surprised to see me as I was them, and we said our "hello's" "it's been a long time", thing then we went back to our own form of drinking and socializing.  The next evening paid off, and there were my friends when I walked in the door.  It was a nice evening, and I was able to scope the crowd for eligible men, who I thought were cute and interesting.  I was back the very next evening, and it was an eventful time.  One man became a special treat for me that evening, and now I find myself wanting to know more about this tall nice looking quiet man.

Changing Pace

Changing places and pace has taken on a new realm which I can socialize.  It's given me the areas of fun that I didn't have before.  Meeting new people and getting to know them is something I enjoy.  I hope they see meeting me as an experience they want to keep around.  I found some of the old people from another time in my life, at these new places, and relished the past for awhile.  It's fun to remember things we did 10 years ago with a person who was there to share those times.

Laptop

Several years ago, we didn't even know what a laptop computer was.  Today many households have at least one.  I still haven't bought one, because I prefer my desktop.  I find that I can do many things with my desktop, that I feel limited to do on a laptop.  I'm sure that if I got really into using one, I would probably give up my desktop completely.  Right now, I'm still shopping around, and saving my money for a good sale.

Lonely

Ever felt useless when around other people?  It's become a way of life with me, since I am alone and living in my mature years.  Darn, that was a nice way of saying I old and haven't got a life.  I find that being alone has it's pro's and con's.......I can do as I please most of the time, but there are times I long for a partner to share my life with.  It's those times, that I see others with their spouses, sharing moments that I once shared with someone.  Boy, do I feel on the outside, looking in, during those times.

Your Children

Yesterday was Mom's 85th birthday and being unable to make it out there where she lives, I sent her a card instead.  My sister is cooking a lunch this coming Sunday for her, to celebrate her birthday.  I'm thinking about going out to my sister's the night before and spending the night so that I won't have so far to drive all in one day.  It's quite a ways out to where my sister lives, in the country and I like to make a two day trip of it when I go.

It's A Book

I watched the trailer on this and it's very cute. I would think that this can really turn into a good source of reading material from Macmillan kids directory of books. Consider the fun that pre-schooler's, teenagers and adults can enjoy and utilize in their days of learning. It's going to be a good funny way to express one's self and still be able to enjoy books. People don't read books like they once did, and I believe they have lost a valuable time in their lives. You might consider getting this book and begin reading which has become a lost art.

Trouble Makers

I just got a call from a place asking for a person, who once made herself a problem to me.  She took my identity and used it to her benefit.  Now, she recently was released from incarceration therefore, she believes she has a new slate in the world.  I truly do not want to be around her, involved with her or ever have any distant association with her.  I wonder how certain companies are starting so early to call me about her?  This is strange and very alarming.  I do not wish to go through the same situations she caused me before.  I can't understand why these people don't want to change their bad ways?  It makes me sick to my stomach, what some people think the world owes them, without regard to the people they are attacking financially.  Call it what you will, but "theft" is still and always will be "theft"!

A New Baby

Recently a friend had a new baby, and that was very special.  You see this friend hadn't been able to get pregnant in all the years she had been married to her husband, and they didn't know what was wrong.  Now, she's 31yrs. old and having her 1st child.  The new baby is very special to all the family involved.  There hasn't been a baby in the family for years either.  Hats off to Corrina and her new little girl Sophie Marie.....

Sleep Patterns....

Have you ever noticed that a baby who is put to bed at the same time every night, will get very sleepy and start yawning when it nears it's bedtime?  It's true......if you make an effort to make sure your baby is in bed at a certain time every night, it's body automatically gives it the urge to go to sleep.  A good time frame for any child, will help the child conform to certain schedules and adhere to them.
Babies, and children who are allowed to stay up, late do not conform to certain schedules and rules.  Therefore they will be unruly and not want to corporate when told it's time for bed.  I have seen young children who have been allowed to wander around late at night, and this only causes them to feel the need to act up.
A nice quiet room with the lights low or completely out, is the best way for a child to sleep and rest well.  If you feel the need for some sort of light in the child's room, then use one of the small night lights that you can find a at local department store.  The light isn't so bright that it will keep the child awake.

Have you ever notice the difference between a formula and a breast fed baby?  The formula fed baby has a strong vitamin order, and the breast fed baby has a sweet smelling order.  I don't know why this is but it is true.  If you take the time to test this you will find my information correct.  The plus's you get from breast feeding far out weighs the formula diet.

There are many other examples of plain ordinary people that God has used in great ways ... Billy Graham is the son of a farmer ... Jesus' disciples were fishermen, a tax collector,... King David was the "runt" of his family ... God loves to use ordinary people to do extraordinary things, because everyone knows that it was God that did the great work. And God receives all of the glory, which He is worthy to receive. Can God use you to do great things ? Absolutely, if you are willing to sacrifice yourself and be fully committed & surrendered to Him. "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. And he will do even greater things than these..." - John 14:12-13
